Pumpkin Spiced Coffee Step-by-step
How To Make Spiced Coffee From Scratch
This recipe is too good to miss! That is why there are two delicious methods for making, so no matter what equipment you have, you can always enjoy this spicy brew!
French Press Pumpkin Spiced Coffee
- Heat – Heat the water.
- Weigh – Weigh the ground coffee and mix it with the pumpkin spice.
- Brew – Add the grinds to the French press and pour in the hot water. Allow it to stand for 4 minutes before breaking up the coffee crust on the surface. Afterward, let it infuse for an additional 4 minutes before plunging.
- Serve – Divide the coffee between two glasses, optionally top it with creamy Pumpkin Flavored Whipped Cream, and enjoy!
Pour Over Pumpkin Spiced Coffee
- Heat – Heat the water.
- Prep the Beans – Weigh the coffee and grind it to a medium grind.
- Rinse – Rinse the pour-over and filter with hot water.
- Add the Coffee – Combine the ground and pumpkin spice blend, then add it to the filter.
- Weigh – Place the pour over on the scale, tare it, and set the timer.
- Bloom – Do a quick pour, and then let the coffee rest and bloom.
- Pour – Continue pouring with a circular motion until complete. The pumpkin spice blend may slow down the speed of the drip, but that is okay because it gives the flavors more time to infuse.
- Serve – Stop the timer, divide the coffee between two serving glasses, optionally garnish with Pumpkin-Flavored Whipped Cream, and enjoy!
Barista Tips
- When brewing coffee, always use filtered water to increase the longevity of your brewing equipment and preserve the delicious taste of your fresh coffee.
- Don’t sip too soon! It might be tough to wait, but it’s worth it! Sipping too hot coffee reduces the functionality of your taste buds and makes your coffee taste inferior.
- When brewing coffee, it’s essential to rinse the pot and filter with hot water before brewing. It removes the paper taste from the filter, preventing your coffee from going cold too soon and missing out on delicious flavor!
Products
French Press – A French Press is a great way to make fresh coffee. It uses coarse ground coffee and has a built-in strainer so every sip of coffee is silky smooth and delicious! Not only is this the perfect tool for coffee but it can also be used to froth milk, brew tea, and more!
Pour-Over Kit With Filters – A pour-over coffee kit is an awesome coffee maker for about one to four people. This neat method requires you to slowly and steadily steam water over the grounds in concentric circles. This gives the beans time to steep and when it’s time to pour, the decanter-style brewer aerates the coffee as it pours.
If you choose to use a pour-over you will need a conical paper filter or a reusable coffee filter that fits your brewer. Be sure to rinse the filter and brewer with boiling water before brewing.

Coffee Scale and Grinder – This recipe is all about ratios and grind size, so it can be very helpful to have a kitchen scale and grinder on hand to weigh and grind your beans. The Comandante grinder is an excellent choice for serious home baristas, but any coffee grinder will work perfectly.
Gooseneck Kettle – A gooseneck kettle is an awesome tool but it can be an investment. A less expensive alternative is a small gooseneck jug. You simply boil the filtered water and then transfer it to the gooseneck jug. The water will be just the right temperature for brewing and you will get all the control you need without the price tag of a high-end kettle.
