- Combine brown sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat.

Notes
If you want a thicker, richer brown sugar syrup (closer to a caramel-like texture), you can adjust the ratio to 2:1 (two parts brown sugar to one part water) and simmer it a little longer until it thickens.
